- We Need Foster Homes. Can you help us - even for a weekend or a week? Do you know of a neighbor, friend or family member that might be interested? As our organization grows, the need for foster families is greater than ever! A foster home allows us to get personal information about each Golden Retriever that just is not available to us when the dog is required to board somewhere.
- Van drivers. Rescue needs van drivers to transport dogs between North Dallas and our main veterinarian southeast of Dallas. The Transportion Committee coordinates who will be driving the van, based on individual availability. Typically, the transport occurs Wednesday evening and Saturday morning, and occasionally will occur on other days. Rescue provides the van, crates, and gas. You provide the time.
- Fundraising. We are always looking for those who enjoy working on fundraiser ideas and implementing those ideas once they are approved by the Board. From bake sales to bowling – have fun while helping Rescue!
- Sporting Chance Golf Tournament Volunteer. Official planning will begin in March each year for our annual golf tournament. If you would like to help out with the behind the scenes work to coordinate this event, please send us an email with the subject "Golf Tournament". It's never to early to start acquiring those silent auction items or to find a "Title Sponsor". See www.golf4rescue.org
- Event Volunteers. Do you like to attend group events, and hang out with other Golden Retriever lovers? From parades to picnics, public education to performance events – there is a gathering for everyone.
- Newsletter article contributors. Do you have an idea or cute photo to include in the quarterly newsletter? If so, please send your idea to info@rescuegoldens.org. You may be asked to write an article as well!
- Committee Members. Become actively involved with the committee of your choice: Intake, Adoption, Follow-up, Newsletter, Website, Land Acquisition, etc. There’s something to interest everyone!
On the Weekends
- Help out by bathing, grooming, walking or obedience training a Golden Retriever.
- Work with potential adopters and assist in the adoption paperwork.
- On pre-set occasions, we will clean out our storage building, wash the van, or other necessary procedures for running Rescue smoothly.
- We also offer training seminars on weekends, such as New Volunteer Orientation or Crate Training for Foster Dogs. Come join us!
Your time is valuable, and we know it. We appreciate every one of our volunteers. Try volunteering once a month. You'll get hooked!
